Rezolution is a new solo show from Staten Island’s Rez Shaolin at IMAGE Gallery. Rez uses the bright color combo of pink and yellow to take a sarcastic look at 1950s culture and the American dream.

Fragments of the Soul brings Mexican street artist Edgar “Saner” Flores’ “mythological playground” to Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Masks and spirits are a common theme in Saner’s work, which draws its influences from traditional Mexican folklore.

Yok and Sheryo are a Brooklyn-based street art duo from Australia and Singapore, respectively. They are known for traveling the world and creating characters that range from strange, grotesque, to sometimes weirdly cute. Shadows is a new mixed media show at Masters Projects featuring sculptures and paintings. The work is all in black and white, which gives these photos an almost monochrome look.

Comics Combatives: Stories Told By Jack Kirby Pfc. is a new pop-up exhibit by the Jack Kirby Museum. The storefront pop-up showcases original art pages and reproductions featuring combat and fight scenes. The action takes place at 103 Allen St. (miLES) in Kirby’s native Lower East Side.

UR New York is a graffiti/street art duo comprised of Ski and 2esae. Works on Paper is a solo show at Low Brow Artique featuring one of a kind screen prints showcasing colorful urban landscapes and culture. “Be who you are” is the ongoing theme of URNY.
The Writers Block was a 3-day event featuring graffiti and street artists working on new pieces. It was hosted by Wen COD and took place at Boone Ave. and 174th St. I took the trek from Brooklyn to get some shots.

Brett Amory’s This Land is Not For Sale: Forgotten, Past and Foreseeable Futures at Jonathan LeVine Gallery is a new solo exhibition exploring the changing landscape of New York City. Paintings of famous storefronts and buildings are showcased. Some are long gone (Mars Bar, CBGB.) Some are still around (ABC No Rio, Economy Candy, Yonah Shimmel.) Some are currently going through changes (190 Bowery.) Featured in the entrance of the gallery is one of those green construction underpasses seen all over the city. As hyper gentrification continues, how many more of the businesses featured in these paintings will be replaced with luxury developments?

Heroic Villainy is a new duo show by Rob “TMO” Plater and Stanley Kubik at Grumpy Bert. Heroes and villains is the theme, with both artists bringing all our pop culture favorites to life. Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain America, Star Wars, Mortal Kombat, X-Men, and more are represented. Like everything with a comic book theme, let’s hope we see a sequel in the future.

The Day Is My Enemy is a new solo show from the mysterious street artist known as Dee Dee. Montreal’s Station 16 Gallery hosts this Halloween-themed event on the Lower East Side. Dee Dee’s strange characters have been seen on the streets of NYC for the last few years. This is her first solo show.
