This weekend welcomed the Afropunk Fest to Brooklyn, a yearly celebration of music and culture. This was the 12th installment (including expansions in Paris and Atlanta,) and my 5th time attending (RIP Afropunk 2011, a victim of Hurricane Irene.) Thousands of beautiful people come to Afropunk ready to be photographed, so it’s always a perfect opportunity to take your camera and get some quality shots. Shout out to everyone I took a picture of, the familiar faces I saw, and the new people I got to meet.
The legendary Rock Steady Crew celebrated their 39th anniversary in Central Park this past Sunday. Partnered with SummerStage, the celebration brought out some of hip-hop’s favorites from over the years. Performers included Doug E Fresh, Nice & Smooth, Bahamadia, and the Boot Camp Clik with a tribute to the late Sean Price. The rain drizzled in and out, but didn’t stop people from coming out for a good time. And the party’s not complete without a gif of Greg Nice dancing.
